The Nutcracker : 2009

Zoey's performance of the Nutcracker in which she played the part of the dolls was last night. Last year she was an angel and was far more nervous than she was this year. The photo above was taken in the choir room before the show...she was worrying about not getting her cheeks painted in time! Happy to say that she got her little red circles painted on in time for the big show!

This post is really photo heavy so I'm going to keep my writing to a minimum...

I really like the movement in the photo below for some reason and that you can see Zoey pretty clearly.

Here was our little star of the show:

And for grandma and grandpa...here is Zoey in action (please ignore my giggling and therefore the shaking of the camera).

The photo above is my favorite photo capture of the evening.

I got some really cute pictures of the girls sitting in the wings off the stage...it was pretty neat because this year they stayed off stage for the whole show which meant they got to watch all the big girls dance instead of having to stay back in the choir room. Zoey loved getting to watch the bigger girls dance.

Her favorite dancers were the Flowers...

Such a fun time and a wonderful way to get into the spirit of things! I look forward to this every year now. Thank you so much Grannie Annie and Grandpa Ken for giving the gift of dance lessons to Zoey. She absolutely loves to dance. After the performance we went home and got Zoey in her pj's and read her her favorite Angelina Ballerina book and she was asleep before the story was over. A wonderfully special and magical evening!

Simply amazing! Zoey is completely beautiful! I can't wait until my baby girl (10 m/o) is dancing in the Nutcracker!

BTW, I found your blog through Anniebakes. Have a wonderful Christmas!

Jen! What fantastic pictures, what a fun memory to document. What kind of camera takes such great pictures with difficult lighting?

Hi Diana! Thank you so much! =)

My camera is a Sony DSC-H2...I LOVE it! It's not too fancy but really works hard for me and I can play around with it or just play it safe by sticking to the automatic modes. The setting I used for the dark performance was actually the automatic adjustment setting w/NO FLASH...and it worked like a charm!!
