A Fun New Cut File + Paper Piecing

8.11.2020

Popping on to share a layout using a cut file that I downloaded from Blue Star Design and used with my Silhouette Cameo. While it takes a bit of time to cut out and paper piece all of those little squares it was oddly calming for me this afternoon.

I may have a bit of an unconventional way of paper piecing. In this case I arranged all of my paper squares by sliding them under my cut file filling in the heart. I then lifted up the heart carefully and then straightened all of the squares in my rows. I added adhesive to the underside of the cut heart and then carefully and slowly laid it down over all of my squares adjusting any squares as needed before completely laying the heart down.

For the design of this page I found inspiration from and scrap-lifted Lisa's page that she created for International Scrapbook Day. I don't have a 12x12 printer so couldn't print my text onto my cardstock like she did so instead just added a strip of text along with the cluster of elements that made up my title.

This was a really fun page to put together! Every paper is from a different company. I love how all the different colors and patterns ended up looking together. I kind of felt like I was channeling my Grandma Hollis while putting this together. She was the most amazing quilter and I imagine she got quite the kick out of selecting her fabrics for each and every quilt.

I've got journaling on the underside of the pink tag that's in the vellum envelope.

Thanks for stopping by!
