Playing with Scraps + Design Inspiration

8.10.2020

Yesterday it was so hot and humid here that I ended up spending most of the afternoon in the basement where it's nice and cool and where my craft room happens to be. Pretty handy! I was organizing and picking up a bit and then was inspired to use up some oldies from my stash to put this page together.

Does anyone recognize that butterfly on the stick pin? I have so many embellishments in random trays, bin and drawers...it's fun to pull them out sometimes and recall all of the different trends throughout the years.

This was a pretty quick page to put together. It started out with my using one of Lisa Dickinson's layouts as my design inspiration and then it ended up evolving into what you see here. You can see that my layout ended up looking pretty much nothing like Lisa's in the end. My biggest takeaway was the strips of patterned papers in the background of my photos and other elements.

Whenever I'm feeling stuck I love looking at other designers' pages for inspiration. Whether it's online by viewing their blogs or scrolling and searching on Pinterest or Instagram...I so enjoy spending time getting inspired in this way! I have even saved old scrapbooking magazines to pull out and look through for just this very reason. There is something so comforting sometimes about flipping through the pages of a magazine and looking through pages and pages of ideas, tips and tricks to bookmark for later.
